AMJ Double Glazing FAQ

What are Double Glazing Windows and Doors?AMJ Double Glazing products are sealed units with 2 sheets of 5mm toughened glass (standard) separated by a 9mm or 12mm spacer bar, and completely sealed around the perimeter. As standard, we fill the space between the 2 sheets of glass with air, it's optional to fill the space with argon gas (which improves thermal insulation efficiency). The still air inside the sealed unit creates the insulation break while the desiccant (drying agent) prevents fogging from occurring inside the unit. It's optional to change the 2 sheets of toughened glass to 6mm or Low-E glass.
Why Choose Double Glazing? AMJ Double Glazing is definitely a good investment to any home or commercial buildings.
  • It reduces the energy bills by insulating against heat and cold up to four times more effectively than single-glazed windows and doors.
  • It also reduces outside noise. When a sound wave reaches a double glazed window, it has to make it through different chambers before it can get inside. By the time the sound gets to inside, it's much quieter and softer. It can reduce noise to up to 70 percent
  • It also prevents condensation because of the airtight seal.
  • Saltwater resistant, which is ideal for coastal applications.
  • It increases security as double glazed windows and doors are tougher to break in.
  • Very low maintenance
What Type of Glass Do You Use?AMJ Double Glazing’s standard products are fitted with 5mm double toughened glass for our windows and doors, with glass upgrade options available to suit specific requirements.
Toughened glass, also known as tempered glass, is a type of safety glass designed for enhanced strength and durability. It is up to five times stronger than standard glass, making it more resistant to impact and an excellent choice for improved security and performance.
In the unlikely event that toughened glass breaks, it is designed to shatter into small, blunt fragments rather than sharp shards. This significantly reduces the risk of serious injury, providing a safer solution for residential and commercial applications.
What are Powder Coated Aluminium Double Glazed Windows and Doors?AMJ Double Glazing aluminium frames are fully powder coated and backed by a 10-year warranty for your peace of mind.
Powder coating is a high-performance finishing process where pigmented powder is applied to the aluminium surface and heat cured to create a durable, protective coating. This creates a strong finish that is designed to withstand the harsh Australian climate while maintaining its appearance over time.
Powder-coated aluminium offers excellent durability, colour retention, and resistance against fading, corrosion, and everyday wear. In the event of minor dents or scuffs, repairs can be carried out using a liquid coating that closely matches the original colour finish.
With consistent colour quality between batches and strong resistance to chemicals, including mortar and industrial-strength acidic and alkaline cleaners, powder coating provides a reliable, long-lasting, and environmentally responsible finish for aluminium windows and doors.
What Is a Thermal Broken Profile?AMJ Double Glazing does produce Thermal Broken Profile in our factory. A thermal broken profile is an aluminium window and door frame system designed with a non-conductive insulating barrier between the internal and external sections of the aluminium frame.
Standard aluminium frames are highly conductive, meaning heat and cold can transfer easily through the frame. A thermal break reduces this transfer, helping to improve insulation performance, maintain more consistent indoor temperatures, and increase energy efficiency.
The benefits of thermal broken profiles include:- Improved thermal insulation and energy efficiency- Reduced heat transfer between the inside and outside of your home- Improved comfort in both hot and cold weather- Reduced condensation risk- Better overall performance for energy-efficient homes
